Chapter History
The Portland Alumnae Chapter of Zeta Tau Alpha was chartered in 1927. Most of the ladies who were the core of the chapter at that time are now gone, but they have left us a lasting legacy. Together we have provided service to our Fraternity and our community for over 85 years!
Over the years, we have provided several Province Presidents, District Presidents, and Portland Alumnae Panhellenic Presidents as well as chapter advisers of all sorts. Our chapter has always been a mainstay of the Portland Panhellenic, and we have fulfilled our term of office whenever it has arisen. We continue to be active in the Panhellenic Alumnae today.
During the years, many of the alumnae took active positions in the advisory and Corporation Boards of the Beta Pi (University of Oregon) and Alpha Sigma (Oregon State University) chapters as well as “rush” weeks. Since the deactivation of these chapters, we have been actively involved in the aid and growth of Kappa Mu chapter at Linfield College in McMinnville.
Frequent winner of the Crown Chapter award, the Portland Alumnae meet regularly – almost monthly – and are benefiting from the addition to our ranks of many younger alumnae from universities across the country, as well as Kappa Mu at Linfield. We welcome all Zeta Tau Alpha Alumnae from all over the United States and Canada at any meeting or event – please contact us!
